ESON Sponsors Teams to Participate in Provincial Envirothon Competition

The Edmonton Science Outreach Network is excited to offer Edmonton and area schools the opportunity to participate in the 2012 Alberta Envirothon. Envirothon is an annual hands-on indoor/outdoor high school environmental competition that has participating teams completing training and testing in six categories (wildlife, aquatic ecology, forestry, soils & land use, agriculture, and energy) in addition to a current environmental issue. A team is composed of an advisor and five students that can range from Grades 9-12.

ESON is promoting Envirothon in the Edmonton area and will sponsor up to 4 teams to attend the provincial competition May 10th-13th at the Long Lake Environmental Center (near Athabasca). This sponsorship includes full re-imbursement of the $200/team registration fee, plus $200 additional funding to supplement substitute teacher costs and/or transportation.
