Privacy Policy
The Edmonton Science Outreach Network (ESON) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members, volunteers, sponsors, donors, partners, and program participants, and will manage the confidentiality of their personal information with care. Your personal information will not be shared with any third party.
With your consent, ESON may collect personal information from you over the telephone, Internet, mail, fax or other electronic media, or in person. This information may include name, contact information, program interests, special requests, evaluations, and any payment information. ESON shall maintain records for no less than seven years. No names of individuals, societies or corporations shall be published without prior consent of an authorized person. Anonymous donors shall be acknowledged accordingly.
ESON collects your personal information:
- To create a volunteer database matching skills and jobs
- To be able to communicate with you
- To inform you about ESON activities
- To create awareness of ESON programs and workshops that may be of interest to you
- To confirm registration in workshops and other events
- For use in planning and reporting purposes
- To comply with legal and insurance requirement
- To react to an emergency situation
Giving and Withdrawing Consent
You may choose to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the ESON office and identifying which personal information you no longer wish to be collected or maintained. Withdrawal of your consent may restrict or discontinue our service to you.
Accessing and Changing Your Personal Information
At any time you may request to verify your personal information with ESON by contacting our office. We ask that you contact the ESON office if your personal information changes including a change in address, place of employment, availability, email, phone number, and any other relevant information. ESON may contact you to update your personal information as needed.
In handling your personal information, the Edmonton Science Outreach Network is committed to complying with:
- Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP)
- Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)
