ESON Volunteer Opportunities

content kids1

Seize the moment of excited curiosity. Share your passion and enthusiasm for science and inspire students to get excited about science too!

ESON volunteers bring a wealth of skills and expertise to our programs. Our volunteers are enthusiastic members of the Edmonton scientific community who actively support ESON’s mission in a variety of roles. These include:

Scientist & Engineers-in-the-Classroom

In our primary program volunteers deliver lively, “hands-on” interactive presentations on a topic of their choice related to any of the topics of the Alberta Education science curriculum. They bring to the students materials, ideas and concepts that only an expert scientist can offer. While we will consider all grade levels, ESON has a strong focus on Division I and II (grade 1-6).

Special Events Volunteers

Volunteers can help out at a range of special events like science fairs, summer programs, etc. In fact, if we don't have what you're looking for, we will refer you to one of our many collaborating organizations for the perfect fit.

Classroom resource kit developer

Our classroom resource kits are in huge demand. Not only do we offer flexible volunteering hours for restocking kits, you can even help with their development!

Board Member

Board members give direction to ESON to make sure the organization is sustainable and effectively serving our community.

Demand is growing and we have requests waiting to be filled for many grade levels and various topics. Time commitments and scheduling are very flexible. We offer training and support to all volunteers and materials are available for volunteers to use. Go on pass it on....your passion for science that is!

For more information please contact ESON’s Program Coordinator or call 780 448-0055.

Volunteer Application Process

All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and get it signed by two referees. Once this has been received the Executive Director will arrange to meet up with you to talk through the roles available, offer any training and answer any questions you may have.
