ESON Volunteer Opportunities

ESON volunteers bring a wealth of skills and expertise to our programs. Our volunteers are enthusiastic members of the Edmonton scientific community who actively support ESON’s mission in a variety of roles. These include

Scientist & Engineers-in-the-Classroom

Volunteers deliver lively, “hands-on” interactive presentations on a topic of their choice related to any of the topics of the Alberta Education science curriculum. They bring to the students materials, ideas and concepts that only an expert scientist can offer.

Ask a Scientist

Scientific Questions which come to ESON usually through our website from teachers or students are sent out to our volunteers to answer. In all its years of service ESON has never failed to find the answers if it exists to a question.

Science Fair Judge

This is one of the most popular events with our volunteers. They act as judges for science fairs at schools providing support and objective feedback to budding scientists.

Special Events Volunteers

Volunteers can help out at a range of special events

Board Member

Help develop ESON and its work

Demand is growing and we have requests waiting to be filled for all grade levels and various topics. Time commitments and scheduling are very flexible. We offer training and support to all volunteers and materials are available for volunteers to use. Go on pass it on....your passion for science that is.

For more information please contact ESON’s Program Coordinator at esons@telus.net or call 780 448-0055.

Volunteer Application Process

All volunteers must complete a volunteer application form and get it signed by two referees. Once this has been received the Executive Director will arrange to meet up with you to talk through the roles available, offer any training and answer any questions you may have.
